Kodiak maintains an active Health & Safety management system encompassing all aspects of the corporate operations. Due to the nature of drilling operations, safety issues play a crucial role in our day to day activities. A brief description of our Health & Safety Management System is outlined below:
Policies and Plan - overall corporate policy on health and safety matters and detailed set of active policies.
Background Information – detailed compilation of health and safety resources.
Corporate Health Benefit Plan – insurance based benefit plan.
Health and Safety Resource Board – resource area for informational items related to health and safety issues.
Health and Safety Nook – resource/library area for health and safety related material.
Posters – WHMIS and First Aid posters.
MSDS – MSDS inventory.
Training – Kodiak has employee-specific health and safety related training requirements managed by a computer based training tracking system.
Site Specific Health and Safety Plan – in house developed Health & Safety Plan for Fieldwork.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – PPE requirements specified as task specific by company policy, by chemical specific guidelines, or by clients based on site specific conditions.
Health and Safety Representative – acts on non-management employees’ behalf on health and safety related matters.
Facilities Mapping – mapping of locations of emergency equipment and facilities.
Emergency Equipment - standard for office/shop facility and field equipment.
Drilling Safety Manual – Kodiak specific; part of the corporate health and safety policies.
Accident and Near-Miss Reporting - reporting forms and a management and health and safety rep review process.
Facilities Inspections – office and shop facilities inspection program.
Safety Meeting – monthly meetings to discuss health and safety related matters.
Utility Locates – Kodiak is a leader among drilling companies in developing comprehensive utility locate policies and practices, including stakeholder education
